Some time in 2007, we advertise inviting volunteer teachers to teach English to children at Tempurung village where our little seaside lodge is located. An American teacher responded to the advert. Her name is Kathy Dichirico who later became our very good friend. Upon her arrival, we took her to our house which she stay for the night. The next day we brought her to the village and almost immediately commence her classes. She had approximately 25 students. Due to her experience as a teacher in the States where she teaches immigrants, the children had fun and quickly got acquainted with her.

She stayed at our seaside lodge for more than 2 weeks. Upon completion of her teaching stint, we brought her to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center in Sandakan, and thereafter to Kinabatangan River for a river cruise in search of wildlife. From there, we drove her to Danum Valley field Research Center. Upon returning to Kota Kinabalu, we managed to squeeze in a DSD (discover scuba diving) program at the Sapi island. She left for home after spending almost a month with us.

Even though it has been a while, we are always in touch especially through the social media. Thank you very much Kathy.
