The Klias Wetland

The Klias Wetland is the biggest wetland reserve in the state and is home to varieties of flora and fauna. The rare and elusive long nose and bulging belly proboscis monkey is found here. The very agile and wild silver leaf monkeys as well as naughty macaques are also abundantly found here. As dusk sets in, along the Klias River banks, millions of fireflies are found flickering their wings and igniting flashes of lights like Christmas trees.

Leave Kota Kinabalu city hotel at 1400Hrs for the one and a half our drive to the Klias Wetland Forest Reserve. Upon arrival at the jetty, welcome drinks will be served consisting of coffee or tea and locally made cakes.

At 1630Hrs, commence your river cruise in search of the proboscis monkeys and other wildlife. After about 01 hour crusing, return to the jetty for your traditional Malay dinner. As dusk sets in and after dinner, go back for boat cruise to observe the spectacular display of lights by the fireflies. At 2000Hrs, drive back to Kota Kinabalu city hotel.

We recommend that you wear outdoor cloths with snickers. Bring along binoculars, raincoat and insect repellent.
